Hey friend

Hey, Hey, Hey!

If you’re reading this, I firstly just want to say a massive thank you for taking the time out to stop by and read this post. In today’s busy, distraction filled society, it can be hard to take a moment and really connect with people around us or catch up with our fellow brothers and sisters. Gone are the days of hour long phone chats with friends, oozing with laughter and comfort for our daily highs and lows.

If you’re reading this as a resident of the UAE, I want to welcome you to Black Girl in Dubai as a place to call home and reconnect with the things you need and may have been searching high and low for since you left the place you call home. If you’re a new tourist or a frequent traveller to the UAE, I want to show off some of the hidden gems you may now discover in your short trips, and boast of the many amazing talents and businesses black creatives have managed to set up in this community they are building as their Middle East home.

Over the last year in my walk of life in Dubai, I’ve repeatedly found myself in hilarious or frustrating scenarios and later found others who had similar experiences. Through many conversations and overlapping questions popping up, I felt a strong urge to create something that everyone has been looking for but not yet found. I am fortunate to have been connected to a large number of people in a very short space of time and with many of them living close together, sometimes in similar circles but not knowing each other, it became obvious to me to somehow connect them with each other for one reason or another, be it as a potential friend or a potential customer.

Here is a place to discover, connect and empower each other as many of us have perhaps made massive steps in coming to the Middle East for work, to travel or even for love. Many however have not yet found that friendship circle, people to hang with for a games night and some good old Uno, that good place to get their hair done, or a spot that cooks their favourite, authentic dish from the Caribbean or Africa.

If you have anything to add or share, please get in touch as we are all about building a community full of love and support. We would love to hear from you. Let’s build and connect together.

Most of all, thanks for stopping by. I hope you find what you are looking for.

All the love,

Sister Kai.
